Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that coding services to clients adhere to the AHA Official Coding Guidelines, Coding Clinics, CPT Assistants, UHDDS definitions, and AHIMA and CMS standards of ethical coding.
- Ensure that coding staff perform services according to the policies and procedures of the client except when in conflict with official coding guidelines.
- Supervise the coding and QA staff.
- Manage the coding and QA assignment schedule for all onsite and offsite accounts.
- Develop a thorough coding QA program and process with measurable and trending reports to assess coding staff and consultants.
- Conduct Quality Assurance and evaluation of coding work performed by consultants and our employees for our clients.
- Establish and monitor productivity standards for each client record type.
- Responsible for day-to-day management of coding and data quality service lines.
- Responsible for evaluation of all coding services, including all coding staff, consultants and QA personnel.
- Perform regional onsite and offsite revenue-generating services as required.
- Provide training and second level of support to clients, consultants and employees as related to the coding, abstracting and auditing process.
- Works independently onsite with customers to help them maximize their financial benefit from using company’s services.
- Interacts with department heads and other administrative staff regarding implementation of new clients.
- Assist in the recruitment, testing and evaluation of potential coding personnel.
- Assist in the planning, development and implementation of new products and services.
- Assist in other related projects as necessary.
Required Qualifications
General Requirements: Candidate should possess a college degree, plus 5 years of applied management experience in a Health Information Management position directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification in CCS, CCS-P or CPC; RHIA or RHIT required. Regional traveling is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9-CM coding, MS-DRGs, APCs, POAs, HACs.
- Knowledge of documentation standards and improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of auditing concepts, principles, statistics and reporting.
- Knowledge of current and developing issues and trends in coding and reimbursement systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory issues, medical coding practices, guidelines, terminology, systems, policies and procedures within the acute care and ambulatory environment.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving abilities and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage people, schedules, workflow and production.

Job Description
The successful candidate will:

Assist the Director by managing the day-to-day activities associated with medical transcription.

Assist in the recruitment, development, management and appraisal of the staff.

Oversee the day-to-day operational activities of the Department to ensure the Department meets standards for quality, productivity and turnaround times.

Establish a positive work atmosphere and foster teamwork.

Administer the Dictaphone ichart system.

Assist Director with budgets and other administrative duties.

Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures for continuous improvement of departmental operations and computer systems.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications include:

Sound knowledge of health information systems and relational database management required.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support change management and process improvement.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs and HIM workflow and processes.

Leadership skills (communication, problem solving, delegation, customer service and dedication).

Preferred Qualifications
One to three years management experience in an HIM Department preferred.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and RHIA or RHIT credential required; RHIA preferred.
